Alterations to an existing manufacturing facility and construction of a new road
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Alterations to an existing manufacturing facility to allow for a smaller building footprint and sub-division of land at a later stage. The existing factory was separated into two buildings, with a new access road constructed along with a car park and 2 dock loading yards. Major services were relocated.
The project is divided into three separable portions:
- Separable Portion A included for internal demolition to allow the relocation of the facility, equipment, offices, etc for subsequent construction works to occur.
- Separable Portions B & C includes structural strengthening works required to separate the building into two; construction of the new road, car park and reception area; the removal of the existing roof over the new road; new loading dock and yard; and slip lane construction.
OVERCOMING CHALLENGES
The facility was operational throughout the construction period while services were made redundant, relocated and new services put in place.
INNOVATIONS
- Portion A ($15m) completed a week ahead of schedule
- Demolition using a helicopter to remove valuable equipment
