This year TOTAL celebrated International Women’s Day by joining the IWD virtual event hosted by UNWomen. TOTAL hosted lunches for team members based interstate, at their homes, onsite and in the Philippines. At the conclusion of the event all Team members were presented with a gift of appreciation.
TOTAL continues to strive for ‘Excellence in Construction’ through its Pathways Program that currently consists of one third females who are entering the construction industry.
Throughout my school years I was always fascinated by architecture, design and the forever changing materials that help build a more sustainable future.
I started working as a custom joinery designer after I finished high school at the age of 18. During my time as a joinery designer, I also completed my joinery apprenticeship which allowed me to obtain a Kitchen, Bathroom, Laundry Contractor Licence. In August 2020, I began my construction Cadet Pathways Program with TOTAL.
I have now been working in the construction industry for 5 years.
Growing up I was always trying new creative hobbies. I always enjoyed using Google Sketch Up to copy houses I had seen in magazines and modify with my own ideas. This was when I knew I wanted to work within this industry.
Entering into a very male dominated industry at 18 was a very challenging experience however it made me determined to work hard and make my mark.
I was extremely lucky to be able to join the team at TOTAL and be a part of the inhouse Pathways Program as a Cadet. The benefits have been amazing as TOTAL provides excellent on-going support and passionate mentors who have taken me under their wing and have empowered me to grow my skills and knowledge.
I was fortunate enough to commence my Cadetship in the Estimating Department working on an Aged Care tender, which has now enabled me to continue to work on this project as a Contract Administrator. This is showing me in real time how a job grows from concept to a live aged care site which will benefit the lives of others.
